It's also very helpful if you blog yourself, as that way your enthusiasm about a blogging initiative will be genuine, as you'll know from personal experience why it can be beneficial.

In my experience, students spend a bit more time and effort on their writing pieces when they know they will be shared with a larger audience. Also, as the teacher, make it understood to the students that it is the expectation that they will blog. Provide them with reasons why it's a good thing.

At the beginning of the year I share a letter with students and parents that explains the purpose and benefits of sharing writing via blogs.

If you'd like a copy of my letter, send me an e-mail.

Good luck!Mr. B-Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00628569059610320379noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4718514650634739931.post-22162279965862857522011-11-09T23:10:15.206-05:002011-11-09T23:10:15.206-05:00i am a teacher in training and we have talked a lo...i am a teacher in training and we have talked a lot about using blogs in our language teaching, and i really think it is a great tool. However there will be some students who would not be so excited about writing on a blog. what do you suggest to make students interested in blogging and creating good quality writing pieces?lenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12776967904031499446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4718514650634739931.post-9898954545897180462011-09-28T11:29:49.086-04:002011-09-28T11:29:49.086-04:00Thank you so much for your input!!!!!

Then, you can invite each student to become an author on his or her respective class's blog.

This way, you only have four or five blogs to check, and the students truly get to experience the power of collaboration.

This makes it a lot easier, too, for students to read each others' writing, as it's all located at one spot, as opposed to 37 different blogs.

Good luck!Mr. B-Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00628569059610320379noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4718514650634739931.post-76137253875459336382011-09-27T13:45:12.791-04:002011-09-27T13:45:12.791-04:00I really want to use blogs in the classroom, but a...I really want to use blogs in the classroom, but am struggling with how I would manage all of the student blogs. I have one class with 37 students, and I teach a total of 189 students. Would I have to open up every individual students blogs?

Any suggestions that you have would be GREATLY appreciated!

-AmyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
